The company was created by the re-formation of the commercial enterprise “Sovcomflot”, founded in 1988 as one of modern Russia’s first joint-stock companies. The new PAO Sovcomflot was included in the list of strategic joint-stock companies by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On approval of the list of strategic enterprises and strategic joint-stock companies” of 04.08.2004 № 1009.

SCF Arctic was founded in 2012 as the Russian subholding of SCF Shipping. The company incorporates shipping companies involved in the servicing Russian shelf projects, mainly in the Arctic – OOO SCF Atlantic, OOO SCF Varandey, OOO SCF Geo, OOO SCF Prirazlomnoye, OOO SCF Novy Port and OOO SCF Shelf. The fleet of SCF Arctic includes Arctic shuttle tankers for transporting crude oil from the Varandey and Prirazlomnoye fields, multi-purpose ice breaking supply vessels for the Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 projects, seismic exploration research ships, and ice-class tankers for transporting crude oil. The company’s fleet operates under the flag of the Russian Federation. Its technical and HR management is overseen by SCF Management Services (St. Petersburg) Ltd..
SCF Arctic has an office in St. Petersburg (River Moyka embankment, 3a), which is the headquarters of Sovcomflot and the location of SCF Shipping’s engineering, analytics and training centres.

Novorossiysk Shipping Company was founded in 1967. In 2007 by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation the assets of OAO Sovcomflot and OAO Novoship were consolidated. Today the fleet of PAO Novoship comprises Suezmax and Aframax crude oil tankers, LR II, MR, and Handysize product carriers, as well as Panamax bulk carriers. SCF Management Services (Novorossiysk) Ltd, a Novoship’s subsidiary, provides support and crew agency services to SCF Shipping companies that oversee the technical management of the fleet.
